Aikido is Great! – Try Martial Arts in Mt. Washington

What are you doing right now? Are you sitting down at your computer reading this? Are you wandering Towson town center bored reading your Facebook feed? What do you want to be doing? Do you see yourself sailing around the world in your dreams? Are you looking for a way to break a serious monotony in your day to day life? Maybe, you’re good, maybe you are working out and working and doing ok but you want something slightly different to punch things up a bit. Maybe instead of sitting down to watch a movie in White Marsh or somewhere else around Baltimore you could try something a bit more active?

Falls Road Aikido will teach you something powerful, fun, and they are friendly while doing it. Aikido emphasizes evasion, circular and spiral redirection of aggression. Instead of turning on Netflix to absorb the latest action thriller, learn to redirect that energy into yourself. You might be busy, or tired, or think, I’m not in the right shape to take up a martial art. The good thing about Aikido is that it is intensive, but the training is designed for everyone and making time for a good Aikido workout will give you more energy. You’ll also notice that the focus and positive changes you receive from training will seep into other aspects of your life. Instead of being bored wandering the Mt. Washington with your phone you’ll notice things you didn’t previously think to notice. You’ll be able to absorb more of your surroundings and appreciate them on multiple levels. Why? Because you will have begun to holistically empower yourself and to be open to the ebb and flow of action all around you.

Aikido is not about being better than those around you though, it’s about being open to relationships that the world is already placing before you. You’ll notice that you are more attentive to small changes in behavior, in movement, and in attitude. This will benefit you when you are bored or seeking direction. You’ll be more in tune with yourself and others. You’ll find smaller and grander ways to enjoy your world. You might find that a great Netflix night is even better as you catch subtle stories or plots or items you overlooked before. At the same time you’ll be getting fitter, stronger, and more capable physically. All around, it would be hard to pass up Aikido wouldn’t it?

You might though, you might think traveling to Baltimore is too far for me (if you live a distance away) but why not try it out? We have classes for kids, and classes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, every other Thursday, and Saturday mornings. New students get 1 free class as well, so you can test out the program and see if it is something you will appreciate. There are many reasons to say yes, and fewer and fewer reasons to say no. Come on in and give it a try and we hope that you’ll see the benefit and power that Aikido can help bring into your life.

What Members of Falls Road Aikido Have to Say:

"My training in Kinokawa Aikido has been one of the most influential experiences of my life. Real and honest budo training has allowed me to become thoughtfully calm and patient in my everyday experiences. Effortless and unexpected power are now regular companions of my being. It is a true honor to share this amazing martial art with the people who choose to show up on the mat week after week and year after year. I welcome anyone who would like to live with more grace to stop by roll around on the mat with us."
